Ruqyah by Placing the Hand on Physical Pain

Context & Islamic Significance

Companion Uthman ibn Abi Al-As complained of severe pain in his body. The Prophet ﷺ instructed him to place his hand on the painful spot and recite specific words. Uthman reported: 'Allah cured me completely' (Sahih Muslim 2202).

بِاسْمِ اللهِ (ثَلَاثًا)، أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ (سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ)
Transliteration (English (Latin)):

(3 times:) Bismillah. (7 times:) A'oodhu billahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa uhadhir.

Translation & Meaning:

(Place your hand where you feel pain and say 3 times:) 'Bismillah' (In the name of Allah); and (say 7 times:) 'I seek refuge in Allah and in His Power from the evil of what I find and of what I fear.'

🌿How to Perform (According to Sunnah)

Place your right hand on the exact area of pain. Say clearly: 'Bismillah' 3 times. Then recite 7 times: 'A'oodhu billahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa uhadhir'. Continue your prescribed medical remedies.
